(Second activity)
TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO Dr. William Soto Santiago Saturday, August 23, 1997 Acapulco, Guerrero, Mexico
**Scripture: Luke 2:21-40** [Rev. Jose B. Perez] He used the Scripture of the Gospel according to Luke, in chapter 2, verse 21 and on. And we will read the proverb, which he also read: Proverbs 22, verse 6, where it says:6_ Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it._ [JBP] And he draws a Star of David.GREETING TO TEACHERS (The Mystery of the New Birth of Babies) Dr. William Soto Santiago Wednesday, July 10, 2002 Veracruz, MexicoAnd for our children to be filled with wisdom, we must teach them the Wisdom of God, bring them the Word of God, teach them the whole Divine Program: Make known to them how God worked in the past, what was God’s Program for past ages or dispensations, and what is God’s Program for our time; so that they grow not only in body, but grow in knowledge and wisdom of God.“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is big, he will not depart from it.”1See? That is why in all countries, governments have schools for children to be instructed, to grow up and learn. Because one is not going to let them grow up to be 20 or 21 years old and then send them to the first grade of school. After they grow up, it is very hard work for them to learn.[Rev. Jose B. Perez] Now look in this booklet of “Conduct, Order and Doctrine of the Church,” which is number 7 of this booklet; this is page 368, which is “HEBREWS, PART III.”2 It says3:836 Now, because the spirit that you have come to you by nature, and by nature coming from sexual intercourse, desire by men and women produces a earthly child. And let that child alone, and don’t teach him nothing right, he’ll go wrong. Don’t teach him neither right nor wrong, he’ll take wrong. Because it’s his nature to do such.[JBP] And he writes: [WSS] «children must be taught».837 Watch a little ol’ baby, not over higher than that, just get so mad; he’ll just…he—he’d wring his hands, and turn red in the face, and hold his breath. ([JBP] That is, when they stay like this [Rev. JBP imitates the gesture of what he is reading –Ed.], and sometimes they stay with their mouths open, and they are all flushed and breathless). Sure. What is it? It’s his nature. He got it from his pappy or his mammy, one; she had enough temper to fight a buzz saw, or his daddy. If they didn’t ([JBP] in other words, if his parents weren’t like that with that temper), his grandfather or grandmother did.[JBP] So, see? It came from the offspring.[837] See, it’s offspring.[JBP] And he writes there: [WSS] «The nature of the baby is taken from the father or the mother, the temperament».[Rev. Jose B. Perez] Our brother William continues saying [“GREETING TO TEACHERS (The Mystery of the New Birth of Babies)”]:[WSS] Now, we find that in the Divine Program it is commanded that the Word of God be taught not only to the elders but to the children as well; and that has to be done by the parents in the homes, and also the church has that responsibility. And that is why there are teachers to teach in that way that the children can understand; so that, later, when they hear the preaching they already have a foundation to be able to understand what is preached.[Rev. Jose B. Perez] Our brother Branham tells us… Let’s go to “WHY CRY? SPEAK!” first. In this one of “WHY CRY? SPEAK!”4 on page 12 at the bottom and 13, it says:63 I gave a drama on it for the children, not long ago, and said, “While Amram was in the room praying, he saw an Angel pull His sword and point it towards the North, and said, ‘You’ll have a child, and he’ll take the children North to the promised land.’” Giving a drama for the little fellows so they’d understand it; that their intellect hasn’t come up to the place that you adults, and can grasp the things as the Holy Spirit reveals it to you.64 Now, though his mother had told him these things, and he knowed this, yet he needed another touch. The—the teaching was fine, but he needed a personal contact.[JBP] He continues saying there:65 That’s what the world needs today.[JBP] Now, see how he says there that he prepared that play for the children, from that anecdote of Abraham, where God had told him that his offspring would inherit the promised land. And he writes at the top: [WSS] «The promised land».Now see how… he says [“WHY CRY? SPEAK!”]:[63] Giving a drama for the little fellows ([JBP] that is, children) so they’d understand it…[JBP] In other words, doing that drama for the children to understand.Notice, even brother Branham came to do that little part there too, where he prepared that play for the children.[Rev. Jose B. Perez] Now, our brother William continues saying here [“GREETING TO TEACHERS (The Mystery of the New Birth of Babies)”]:[WSS] But you talk to them in Bible classes, you talk to them in their way, in their environment, in which they can understand. And you are blessed teachers, who are working in the Work of the Lord in that work.[Rev. Jose B. Perez] Also in the message:LADIES AND MINISTERS RECOGNIZING THE ESCAPE SIGN Dr. William Soto Santiago Saturday, August 29, 2009 Torreon, Coahuila, MexicoUnderstanding the Word of God is very important for every human being. And now, notice, the child Jesus grew in wisdom, in stature and in favor with God and man.Mothers, remember that it is not only the job of giving food to children to help them grow in height. Mary helped the child Jesus not only by giving Him food, but also by helping Him to acquire wisdom. And this is by: giving Him the Word, reading the Scriptures, taking Him to the Sabbath activities in the synagogue, and thus…; and teaching Him all the things that corresponds for a human being to know as a child.[JBP] That is why it is good for parents to take their children to those classes. Here in Puerto Rico it is at 8:00 in the morning on Sundays; other places it is on Saturdays. So it is good to take advantage; and parents: take the children in that little time that the sisters and brothers who are the children’s teachers, take that time to dedicate to the children. And he told us on one occasion that it is an extension of the home, to teach them the Divine Program.5 And then (as he told us there) thus have a foundation, so that in that simple form that they are taught, there they can understand (in that way), especially the little children; and so when they listen to the preaching they can better understand what is being spoken of the corresponding Divine Program, not only of past times but of the time in which they are living.[“LADIES AND MINISTERS RECOGNIZING THE ESCAPE SIGN”][WSS] So that when the religious leaders, the doctors of the Law, hear Him, listen to Him, asking them and also answering their questions, are amazed at His wisdom.6So it is important that our children are filled with divine wisdom, with knowledge of the Divine Program; for which, we must make known to them all the Divine Program, all the Word of God, relevant to our time; and also make known to them the history of the Divine Program from Genesis to Revelation.[Rev. Jose B. Perez] In the book of Quotations7, on page 15, paragraph 109, it tells us:109 – “[16] Now, the whole Book is written by symbols. There is hardly anything just direct with the Word, where you just place it right out and say… It’s by symbols (...) so He could ‘hide it from the eyes of the wise and prudent, and would reveal it to babes such as would learn.’”[JBP] See, and there he writes: [WSS] «It will be revealed to the children».And he writes that Scripture of: [WSS] «Mt. 11:25-29».[Rev. Jose B. Perez] He continues saying [“LADIES AND MINISTERS RECOGNIZING THE ESCAPE SIGN”]:[WSS] And now, remember that our children have to grow, not only in height but in wisdom and in grace with God and men; for which, they have to be people who respect others, so that they may have grace before other people; because a spoiled child does not find grace before people…[JBP] See, so that they may find grace, that they may also find grace in other people. Now see, remember, those children did not find grace in the eyes of Elisha. They were children who were taught, instructed, to mock the Divine Program; that was what they were taught at home, by their parents; they were spoiled and disrespectful children. And there they met the Anointed of God, the prophet of God. And two bears came out and ate them, killed them.8Now notice how…, the importance of teaching: if those children had been taught in their homes to respect the Divine Program and the Work of God and the prophet of God, they would have been children that would have been hand in hand with Elisha there helping him in something; but see, they were taught in another way.He says [“LADIES AND MINISTERS RECOGNIZING THE ESCAPE SIGN”]:[WSS] …because a spoiled child does not find grace before people, nobody wants him around. And then the parents say: “Why don’t they like my child?” Because you did not teach him to respect others, so that he would be gracious, find grace, with other people. They should be sweet, kind children, servants of other people and respectful with other people, with other children and with adults too.And now, the same applies to all believers in Christ, no matter how old they are.For all the members of the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ: They should obtain through the teaching of the Word, wisdom, knowledge, and find grace before God and before men; fearing God, loving God, serving God; and also the same toward men. Loving God above all things and their neighbor as themselves.[JBP] “TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO.” That is the subject we will be listening to and seeing on this occasion. You may please stand up. We stand, and thus we leave in this subject: “TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY HE SHOULD GO” our dear brother and friend, Dr. William Soto Santiago.* * *
